Level 621 is the 622nd Level of the Backrooms. It is best known for causing the regular disappearances of solo wanderers.

Description

Level 621 has the appearance of a home with a wooden interior that is dimly lit by numerous, though often broken, ceiling lights. The walls are painted white and have a large, decorative trim that takes up the bottom half of them. The level has hardwood floors, occasionally with black carpet over them, and white popcorn ceilings.

The level's structure is comprised exclusively of numerous, empty hallways and the rooms that they connect to. Hallways follow a simple, grid-like pattern of parallel and perpendicular halls which intersect every 200 feet and are 4 feet wide. The two most notable features of Level 621 are large rooms that can occasionally be found where hallways intersect and side rooms with entrances in the center of hallways. Rooms in Level 621 never connect directly to another room, only to hallways, and side rooms can only connect to one hall.

Large rooms will have support pillars in the corners of them, with plastic models depicting small, 2 foot-wide slices of landscapes on the sides of the room between them. They may have a second-floor balcony stretching around their entirety. Said balconies have metal railings that are painted white, gray, or black. At the time of writing, no entrance to a second floor has been found.

The roughly 1:20 scale landscapes found in large rooms may feature hills, trees, sunflowers, and streams. Dirt paths and, rarely, wooden bridges are the only man-made features of said landscapes. Models span the entirety of each side of the room, save for a small area around the pillars, and are elevated roughly 3 feet above the floor. They block the doorways leading to the room; however, these doors always open away from the models. This makes them still accessible, albeit more difficult to quickly traverse.

Side rooms are mostly devoid of furniture, save for occasional worktables and a few chairs, along with models similar to those seen in the larger rooms. The worktables in the side rooms usually have simple hand tools, vials of unknown chemicals, and packets of plant seeds on them, which are usually sunflower seeds. Often, the seeds in these packets will be made of plastic with a similar texture to that of the model landscapes. There have also been occasional reports of extremely life-like models of Death Rats found in these rooms, rather disturbingly posed as if in agonizing pain.

The only sightings of entities on this level have been of bipedal figures standing on the balconies of the second floor, draped in obscuring shadow and seemingly observing wanderers. The identity of these figures is unknown. Due to the fact that these sightings only come from groups of people who travel together, and the disappearances of solo wanderers on this floor, it is believed that these entities may kill wanderers who stumble upon them alone, though any means by which they do so are currently not understood. See Addendum 1 below.

Traveling alone in this level is not recommended.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

There were, at different points in time, two outposts established within Level 621.

M.E.G. Outpost Green

  • Outpost Green was established to aid wanderers caught in this level alone. It was located near a known exit to Level 35.
  • Wanderers of this level regularly stayed at this outpost, and it was often used to find a traveling partner for the remainder of their journey within the level in order to avoid the entities that inhabit it.
  • Outpost Green fell apart slowly due to a combination of it being a low priority station and the requirement of twice as many people to bring supplies into it due to the nature of the entities that live in Level 621. It was officially disestablished on July 13, 2017.

B.N.T.G. Level 621 Research Post

  • This was a minor research outpost with roughly 13 members.
  • The Level 621 Trading Post was believed to have served the purpose of researching the chemicals commonly found within the level, as multiple sources have reported B.N.T.G. members collecting samples of them prior to the outpost's abandonment.
  • This post was abandoned on March 12, 2019, as its remote location combined with the necessitation of multiple people to restock it with supplies made it largely unsustainable.

As Level 621 is difficult to traverse alone due to the entities within it, and all entrances and exits to the level are one-way, permanent establishments are deemed too costly to set up by all major groups at this time.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

Empty shop spaces in Level 33 may have a backdoor marked with an employee only sign that leads here.
Some wanderers have claimed to have gone through an entrance to Level 621 through Level 165, however, these claims have not been confirmed, and no such entrance has been discovered.

Exits

Occasionally, a door on this level will have an exit sign above it. These doors have been documented as leading to Level 35, or more rarely, Level 4. It is currently unknown if these are the only levels that exit doors on Level 621 can lead to.

Addendum 1

On May 29th, 2021, a camera was found by a group of wanderers in one of Level 621's larger rooms with a balcony. The camera had a cracked lens and appeared to have suffered sufficient internal damage to be rendered inoperable, presumably due to damage from falling. The footage was later retrieved by M.E.G. from the SD card inserted into the device. The most recently recorded footage on the camera is a 46-second video clip. The video starts by panning around the top of the balcony while the wanderer it originally belonged to (currently unidentified) whispers about seeing something above them. The video then pans to an entity standing on the balcony. What appears to be a claw unfurls from behind the figure and quickly reaches over the railing, accompanied by a distressed vocalization by the wanderer. The camera turns to face the ground in the wanderer's grip as it rises upwards before being dropped. There are sounds of a struggle above, followed by a sound similar to burning before the clip ends, presumably due to the camera ceasing to function.

Addendum 2

On January 12th, 2022, a small group of wanderers were traveling through Level 621 to reach Level 4 from Level 33. They stumbled upon a side room containing numerous workshop tables, each with an assortment of chemicals in beakers on top of them, and an estimated 37 plastic replicas of people, many featuring torn clothing as if from some sort of struggle and with pained expressions, along with one carrying an empty camera bag.
